iPhone 18 Pro review: a variable aperture for the first time, a 2nm A20 Pro chip, Thai pricing from 48,900 baht

The iPhone 18 Pro's biggest new feature is a 48MP main camera with a variable aperture for the first time in iPhone history, using a mechanism of 6 laser-cut blades to control the light reaching the sensor, improving low-light shots and letting group photos blur the background while keeping subjects sharp. The A20 Pro chip, built on 2nm technology, delivers 50% more memory bandwidth and 40% stronger graphics compared with the previous generation, suited for gaming and heavy workloads.

Dynamic Island has been expanded to show up to 3 Live Activities at once, while still supporting Face ID. The Pro model's battery plays video continuously for up to 36 hours, and the Pro Max for 45 hours (eSIM model only), with fast charging reaching 50% in 15 minutes. The cooling system repositions memory and adds a vapor chamber 3x larger, alongside a C2 5G modem that's 15% more power-efficient, and a new Apple Reference Image feature that preserves original sensor data to verify photo authenticity.

Thailand pricing starts at 48,900 baht (Pro) and 52,900 baht (Pro Max), up to 96,900/100,900 baht for the 2TB model. Pre-orders open September 12 at 7:00 PM, with sales starting September 18, in Black, Silver, Glacier Blue, and Burgundy. Prices rose by about 4,000-5,000 baht from last year, and those waiting for full Thai-language Siri may need to wait for a future update.
