A compact full-frame mirrorless camera that adds a joystick, 7.5-stop in-body stabilization, new film-simulation color tones, and 4K 60p video

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced the launch of the EOS R8 Mark II on September 16, 2026, a full-frame mirrorless camera building on the EOS R8, with Canon executives saying it's designed to inspire photographers of every level to go out and develop their own visual storytelling style.
What stands out is its compactness: at 131.4 x 90.0 x 79.7mm and about 546 grams, it still features built-in 5-axis IBIS stabilization. When paired with an IS-equipped RF lens, the Coordinated Control IS system reduces camera shake by up to 7.5 stops at the center of the frame and 7.0 stops at the edges, per CIPA 2024 standards, and it's the first full-frame EOS R-series camera in its class to include a joystick-style multi-controller.
Creative features are another selling point, including NegativeFilmtone and PositiveFilmtone tones, bringing the total to 16 color tones, a Creative AUTO mode offering shooting guidance for the first time in a full-frame EOS camera, and Creative Assist for defocusing backgrounds in video, alongside 4K 60p video and support for VR content creation.
