Wise launches multi-currency accounts and cards supporting 40 currencies in Thailand, with PromptPay and ASEAN QR support

Amid the continued growth of cross-border travel and work, Wise announced the official launch of the Wise Account and Wise Card in Thailand on September 23, 2026, a service for Thais traveling abroad, foreigners residing in Thailand, and digital nomads. This launch carries real significance: in 2025, Thais spent a combined 558 billion baht abroad, while Thailand remains a popular destination for tourists and foreign residents, especially following the introduction of the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

The Wise Account lets users hold and convert multiple currencies in a single account, setting Exchange Rate Alerts to pick the best moment to convert. The Wise Card, available in physical and digital form, charges the Mid-Market Exchange Rate with no added markup and displays fees clearly before every transaction. It can be added to Google Pay for contactless payment, and scans QR codes via the Wise app for both Thailand's PromptPay and ASEAN QR systems such as DuitNow (Malaysia), QRPh (Philippines), and PayNow (Singapore). It includes a Bill Split feature for splitting costs with travel companions, and a Travel Hub gathering spending guides, an ATM finder, and a simulated passport stamp collection system. Wise received all 5 required licenses from the Bank of Thailand and the Ministry of Commerce as of this past March.
