HONOR launches the Magic9 Pro Max with dual 200MP cameras co-developed with ARRI for film-style color grading, and an 8,800mAh battery

HONOR launched the Magic9 Pro Max, a flagship smartphone seriously leaning into camera strength, building on the Magic8 Pro's 200MP telephoto with a new 200MP "ultra-night" main camera. The main camera has an f/1.57 aperture and a 1/1.28-inch sensor; the 200MP telephoto has an f/2.6 aperture and a 1/1.4-inch sensor, both with 3-degree OIS, alongside a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera.

At its heart is the 6nm H1 Imaging Chip, working with algorithms tuned by the ARRI team, the legendary film camera maker. The result is ARRI Cinema Mode, supporting the ARRI LogC3 color format, LUT import, and ready-made preset looks, with a Magic Color for Video feature for simple cinematic looks. HONOR also promotes a cinema-grade microphone that captures clear audio at both near and far range, demonstrated by creator Han Han, and supports an optional teleconverter lens without blocking other cameras.

On design, HONOR shifted from a large circular camera bump to a square camera deck, inspired by vintage multi-lens film cameras, freeing up space for an 8,800mAh Silicon-Carbon battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. It runs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip with 12/16GB RAM, 256GB-1TB storage, a 6.8-inch OLED display at 1320×2868 resolution reaching up to 10,000 nits (local) peak brightness, with IP68, IP69, IP69K water and dust resistance, running MagicOS 11 on Android 17. It launched in China first, with no official plans yet for the US or global markets.
