TrueMoney and Visa launch a service linking Visa cards to scan-and-pay PromptPay QR codes in-app, with 30 baht cashback on first use
Now available nationwide, with a cashback campaign running through year-end and prize activities worth over 6 million baht combined through September 30, 2026

Scan-to-pay has become second nature for Thais. A 2024 DataReportal report found that 61.5% of Thai internet users aged 16 and over scan a QR code via mobile every month, the third-highest rate in the world. On the infrastructure side, National ITMX data from June 2026 shows PromptPay has more than 83 million registered numbers, processing over 2.39 billion transactions in a single month, worth a combined more than 4.38 trillion baht. This level of everyday habit is the backdrop for the latest partnership between TrueMoney (under Ascend Money) and Visa.
What the two companies have done is let TrueMoney users link a Visa credit or debit card to the app and select that card as the funding source when scanning to pay QR PromptPay at participating merchants — the first time a Visa card can pay via QR PromptPay directly on TrueMoney. Thanida Suiwattana, Chief Business and Customer Strategy Officer at TrueMoney, explained this adds a payment option under the concept "easy payment everywhere," while Anthony Watson, Country Manager for Visa Thailand, sees it as connecting consumer familiarity with a global payment network.
On promotion, anyone who links a Visa card and scans to pay with it for the first time, worth at least 100 baht per transaction at a participating merchant, gets 30 baht cashback through December 31, 2026, limited to one redemption per user. Additionally, through September 30, 2026, scanning to pay QR PromptPay via Visa or other channels enters a chance to win a gold necklace, cashback, and TrueMoney Coin worth a combined over 6 million baht, claimed via an in-app notification after a successful payment, up to 10 entries per user per month, running alongside the "Easy Scan & Pay Caravan" field activity touring the Silom and Asoke areas over two days.
