MICHELIN Keys 2026: Thailand earns Keys for 71 hotels, Capella Bangkok moves up to three Keys

The MICHELIN Guide announced its list of hotels awarded a MICHELIN Key for 2026 on September 18. Thailand placed 71 hotels and resorts among a worldwide list of 2,832 properties across 79 countries, with 470 new entries and more than 80 properties promoted this year.

At the top of the pyramid sit the country's leading hotels and resorts

The Three Key tier, defined as "an exceptional stay, finely tuned to perfection," includes 6 properties: Capella Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, The Siam, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, Phulay Bay (A Ritz-Carlton Reserve) in Krabi, and Amanpuri in Phuket. Capella Bangkok is the only hotel promoted to this tier this year — it sits on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River, opened in 2020, and blends resort-like tranquility with easy access to the old town.

The Two Key tier, "an exceptional stay," includes 22 properties spread across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Krabi, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Koh Samui. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui entered the list straight at this tier on its first appearance, while Dusit Thani Bangkok, 137 Pillars House, Iniala Beach House, and Trisara all moved up from one key.

A broader base at the One Key tier

The One Key tier, "a special stay," includes 43 properties and saw the most movement, with 14 newcomers: Andaz One Bangkok, Chakrabongse Villas, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, and Siri Sala Private Thai Villa in Bangkok; Onsen at Moncham, Sela Chiangmai, and Villa Mahabhirom in Chiang Mai; Maison Mystique in Khao Yai; plus Devasom Khao Lak, Chiva-Som Hua Hin, Devasom Hua Hin, Cape Fahn, Garrya Tongsai Bay, and The Retreat Koh Chang.

The variety within this group stands out. Villa Mahabhirom reinterprets Thai hospitality through 14 traditional teak houses decorated with antiques and art. Chiva-Som Hua Hin is a world-renowned wellness retreat blending holistic health care. Maison Mystique, meanwhile, brings a cinematic atmosphere to a boutique hotel with a white building, jewel-toned colors, and velvet furniture.
